Teen's golf fundraiser

Previously the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity, we re-launched as The Children’s Surgery Foundation in 2019 to reflect the national scope of our work today. The story below is from our days as the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity.

We're getting excited about an upcoming golf day organised by Daniel Jordan, 16, and his dad Kevin, from Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

Daniel explains why he's fundraising for us.

"Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has a very special place in my heart. I had a lot of health problems from birth and was so underweight I could have died.

"I was initially referred around from hospital to hospital because no-one could work out what was wrong. Eventually I came to Chelsea and Westminster, under the care of consultant paediatric surgeon, Mr Haddad. Mr Haddad and his team have been fantastic and have looked after me so well since the age of 3. They have carried out several major operations, and I can now say at the age of 16 that I am well and hoping that within a few years I will be discharged permanently from the hospital. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has got my life back on track.

"Obviously I can never thank nor repay everyone at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital enough for all that they have done for me and my family. I'm one of many people that they have worked miracles for. However the money I am hoping to raise will go to a great cause and enable the hospital to help many others.

"I am raising money for the charity by having a golf day at Chesfield Downs Golf & Country Club, where I am Junior Club Captain, on the 12th August 2017. If you're local, please come along!"
