A magical Christmas party

06 Dec Archive Girl with Santa

Previously the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity, we re-launched as The Children’s Surgery Foundation in 2019 to reflect the national scope of our work today. The story below is from our days as the Chelsea Children’s Hospital Charity.

What a party!

The children's Christmas Party at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Saturday was a huge success.

Our young guests were treated to performances from beatboxer Grace Savage and Senior Nursing Sister Sara and friends as characters from Frozen. Children from Music'all sang Christmas carols while youngsters from The Big Dance Company wowed us with their dance moves.

Santa gave out gifts in his grotto, while magicians, balloon modellers and characters from Darth Vader to Peppa Pig - and even a ping-pong-playing Spider-Man - entertained the kids.

Fun activities from arts and crafts to face painting kept the children busy.

We were thrilled to be joined by some celebrity guests. Lovely Liam from Great British Bake Off created showstoppers on the cookie table, while cool drum and bass band Rudimental visited children on the wards who were too unwell to join in the fun.

"Sienna said afterwards that it was the best party she had ever been to, which hopefully means hospital casts less of a shadow than in the past," said dad Nick Davies.

Big thanks to our hard-working volunteers, to our fabulous performers and celebrities and to our generous supporters.

And thanks to all our deserving young guests and their families for making this such a lovely, fun-filled event.

Merry Christmas!
